So what do we all think of "Cannibal?"
RockerSeven on November 16, 2010
i love it!
so far from a couple listens, in order from fav to least fav:
cannibal
we r who we r
sleazy
the harold song
grow a pear
crazy beautiful life
blow
c u next tuesday
animal (remix)
kinda funny...its almost the running order of the CD lol
although...cannibal, we r who we r, and sleazy are probably the top three just cause ive already listened to them so much...so this may change after a few more listens
i noticed "C U next tuesday" is slightly different, and also censored (which i guess isnt suprising that much)

no...i highly doubt that its optional (unless an artist were to put it on even though it has no obsene lyrics)
personally, i dont pay any attention to it...ive got some CDs that say "f*ck" over and over (like some offspring CDs) but it doesnt have a sticker on it
then ive got one that says "f*ck" just once on the entire album, but it has it
some albums have actually received the sticker just for lyrical content...even if there werent any swears anywhere on the album
some albums, like blinks 182s enema of the state, didnt have the sticker at first, but then later they added it
so really, to me the sticker is saying to me that some "suit" somewhere decided that his opinion of the lyrics is that they are bad
but yes, thats was my conclusion too...somehow the word "sh*t" and "b*tch" are fine in certain songs, but not others...or perhaps they do like PG-13 rated movies (where they usually limit it to one f*ck") and set a limit as to how many times you can use a certain swear word before it draws a sticker
also, im not so sure if id want to see an album of just unreleased stuff (that everyones already heard)
sure sometimes musicians do that whole "rarities/B-sides" collection...but thats kinda something different that usually gets released when a band is on hiatus or something...just to please the fans until they get back together to start writing new music
but when musicians come out with a new album, i always like to hear a full album of new stuff...not just old "recycled" stuff
i what i do think would be cool though, is if for her next album, ke$ha does two versions of it, a regular one, and a deluxe edition (which is something that alot of artists do these days)
the regular edition would just be an album of new songs, and the deluxe edition would include a bonus CD of some of her favorite unreleased songs (and maybe putting the finishing touches on them, or fixing any parts that need fixing)
Ive listened to all the songs and i agree with a lot of u, cannibal is the darker and deeper side of the fun and party-like animal. At first my favorite song was cannibal, but i soon fell in love with blow. However, my love and respect for cannibal did not go down. My order for the songs probably goes like this; blow, cannibal, we r who we r, harold song, sleazy, grow a pear, c u nex tuesday, CBL, and then animal remix. I basically loved all of the songs excluding the animal remix. I'm not sure why, but that one didn't really fit with the rest of the album. does anyone else agree?
maybe she doesn't want the "parental advisory" sticker on her album. but then again i heard putting the tipper sticker on albums is an option. but i'm not sure how true that is.
==
*BTW* the new album is great. don't want to over analyze it till i get the hard copy and listen to it on my home stereo
==
as far as her next album is concerned - i would like to see some of the bajillion 'unreleased" songs you can find on the net compiled into an album.
whats kinda interesting is that the word "sh*t" is censored in C U Next Tuesday, but not in other songs
its kinda like animal, where some songs had certain words censored in one song, but not in another
well in a way, since cannibal is just an extension of animal...it sorta makes sense why "CUNxTuesday" was put on...
as opposed to any of her other songs, which might not have been done at the same time
although, considering she sings "f*ck him hes a DJ" live, i wouldve liked to seen that put on the disc instead...but its all good
and yeah, this album does seem a bit edgier and darker, and sounds more like much of her unreleased stuff
Cannibal (album) is purely epic. Way better than Animal imho.
Animal had such a fun vibe, but was much lighter in nature.
I feel like Cannibal represents the dark side of Animal.
The songs are edgier and much tougher.
Cannibal (song) is a hot and dance-y mess.
We R Who We R is fun and care-free and it kicks serious arse.
Sleazy is just too cool. A much need track.
Blow is astounding. It's just such a killer track. Absolutely sick & savage.
The Harold Song is just so pretty and heart-breaking. So relatable.
Crazy Beautiful Life is so fun and rad.
Grow A Pear is amazing! The Mangina bit was just genius!
CUNxTuesday, I felt was unnecessary. But that's mainly because I already have
it from the Animal Japanese Import. Would've much rathered it to have been
Butterscotch or A Bad Girl's Lament.
I actually didn't listen to the remix of Animal yet. Whoops!
Blow, The Harold Song, CBL, and Grow A Pear are certainly my favorites though.
This record really gives me a lot of hope about Ke$ha's next record, which, of course,
just can't come soon enough!
n/m. I found the "super secret" link .. I'm listening it to it now. I'll give my verdict once I finish listening to it.
how and when did you get your copy? I pre-ordered mine last Friday - haven't gotten it.
Ah, when you said two versions, I immediately thought "Original" and like "acoustic" or say, a version of the cd performed with a full orchestra instead of keyboards and such. There's a japanese pop artist that did that and I was wowed by that. Because I mean, EVERYBODY and their momma does acoustic nowadays. So I was impressed with something different being offered.
And yeah, I agree with your latter idea about the PG-13 thing. & I would never want a "new" k$ record to be recycled songs, only a b-side collection. But since she did recycle a song this go round, I just wish it were a different one, or at least a reworked version of the song, as opposed to the same exact version found on Animal.
BLOW is doin it for me . Crazy beautiful life is so melodic . I would suggest ad-libbing "on your face" instead of "to your place" . grow a pair has cool rhymes reminiscent of EMINEM . production is tops on all. even her 'power-ballads' are getting better.
They can package an album called "KE$HA DOES POLKA" and I would pay money for it.
well, as i said in another thread, i hate remixes...
i much prefer the original song as opposed to just someone cutting it up, and pasting it back togther over some new beats
sometimes remixes can work if its kinda a brand new song
like where new music and lyrics are recorded, keeping the main parts the same, but altering it abit so it becomes a different song, but you can still clearly tell that its based off the other song (if that makes sense)
almost kinda like when artists do sequel songs
I don't know if you'll agree, but I found Love the Way You Lie Pt. II to be an excellent example of this.
Same theme, same motif, but with a completely new melody for the verse, and additional bridge section.
I'm actually doing that with one of my own songs at the moment. It will first appear on my album in a Terry Poison/8 bit weapon/k$ form, and then later on my friend and I's record in a more Evanescence-y, rock form. And yes, Love it when artists do that.
one big thing i noticed about the CD version of cannibal (that i mentioned in another thread) is that its for the most part censored
the odd thing though, is 1. the version of "we r who we r" that was put up on ke$has youtube channel (as well as the online listening party) is uncensored (the word sh*t can be heard)
also in "crazy beautiful life" it censors the word sh*t, but not sh*tty...which is just very odd
the CD itself doesnt say "EDITED" on it anywhere (also i got it from target, they dont censor their albums (with very RARE exceptions) which leads me to believe that all versions of the album are like this no matter where you get it
Must be the same story as with Animal.
yeah...i mean its a bit annoying...but at the same time i can kinda see why they would do it
and at least i know its every album, not only some depending on where you buy it from
Yeah, that's just one of the reasons I don't cd shop at walmart.
That, and the fact that here, all of the walmart cd stands are anything
but orderly.
*browsing through the E's* Hmm....no Enya here. *Examines P's under latin Pop on next aisle..
...finds Enya records. & a few Kittie records*
oh yeah, i try to never go into walmart...ever...
although for "cannibal" i was seriously considering going at midnight when they put all the new releases out...but i decided against it lol
it's beyond fantastic all the songs are kick ass party anthems, Blow and Crazy Beautiful Life are my fav hah actually the whole album is just amazing and i can't pick and choose all of the songs are beautiful thank you ke$ha for a f***ing incredible album keep it up!
x.
I love it!
Ke$ha is like one of the best singers/songwriters/performers out there. She is much more relatable than others.

I Lovee All the songs!! And i couldn't find one spot for Sleazy bc i lovee it so it shares a likeness with Crazy Beautiful Life.
Cannibal is exactly what I hoped it would be, a bigger, better, BADDER version of Animal, with it's own little twist of raw, hardcore emotion. And it shows every bit of it. Throughout the album, I got all the lyrics down on my first listen each. The lyrics are catchy and unforgettable, like catching chicken pox for the first and only time. Except you WANT to experience this again and again and again. I'd say my faves from greatest, to least fave are:
Cannibal: The lyrics are fierce, primal, and scary good. Every beat, every word, it all gets consumed by the eardrums and savored in the heart as my number one fave. ^.o
Blow: This song is one of those jams you hear in a club, and all you can do is lose your $hit because this jam is so EPIC! *dances as it turns on my ipod* Sorry...moving on. XD
WE R WHO WE R: An anthem of individuality, and strength in numbers. There's nothing better than knowing that this song was made for all us other Animals/Cannibals out there.
CUNxTuesday: A song of letting go of a stupid jerk who can't $tand to keep it in his pants. What more to love, especially with the fact that she is non challantely calling him a....ahem...being such a "proper young man", I can't say it...just...spell out the capitals, and you get my drift. ^w^
Grow A Pear: Oh BOY! X3 I can't say much more than "OMFG!!! I THINK I'VE SAID/DONE THAT BEFORE!!!!" That's a good reason to love this song. ^.o
Sleazy: At first, I thought to myself "Oh dear...she went hardcore rap.....>.<" And then eventually it turned from fear of change to complete infatuation with the change! XD A great song, and one that will always be in my playlist.
Crazy Beautiful Life: Very saucy, sweet, and true. I must say that whenever I'm with my friends, this song plays in my head.
The Harold Song: So very sweet and sad.... A song that everyone can relate to. w< <3
I love it!!!!!
my top fav to least fav:
The Harold Song
Cannibal
Grow A Pear
We R Who We R
Blow
Crazy Beautiful Life
C U Next Tuesday
Sleazy
Animal (Billboard Remix)
5 out of 5 stars
